Top Ten Countries Tallest – Creative Facts that are Funny
No.1 – Netherlands
Standing head and shoulders above the rest are the Dutch. An average height of 6’0” makes them the tallest nation in the world.
No.2 – Sweden
Another Scandinavian nation standing tall on our list, young men in Sweden average a mammoth 5’11.5”. We don’t need to repeat the historical background to these guys; they too come from tall ancestors.
No.3 – Denmark
After revealing in the previous entry that Northern Europeans have been tall for centuries, it may come as no surprise to find another Germanic nation high up on this list of the world’s tallest countries. Among military conscripts, Danish men averaged an impressive 5’11.1” in 2006.
No.4 – Norway
Much like Finland and Estonia, the Norwegians are a tall bunch, averaging 5’10.7” as listed on military conscripts. Once again, this does not take into account older, and probably shorter, men; however, it does indicate that Norwegian men are increasing in stature.
No.5 – Estonia
Data for former Soviet Union countries is extremely patchy, and Estonia takes its place on this list by virtue of its paucity of data. Among its very young men, Estonians are a statuesque 5’10.5” on average.
No.6 – Finland
Another country that might not immediately spring to mind for its tall men, Finland claims its place with an average height of 5’10.2” among its men.
No.7 – Germany
The most recent census in Germany, from 2005, gave their men a very respectable average height of 5’10.1”, across the entire age range. Measurements taken from very young adults (18-19 years old) are even taller, suggesting that the Germans, like many nations, are continuing to push for the ionosphere.
No.8 – Greece
Not a nation that is immediately known for having tall men, but apparently Greece had us all fooled, (sky)scraping onto our top 10 tallest countries list with an average height of “just” 178.1 cm, or 5’10.1”.
No.9 – USA
Making it onto our top 10 with measurements taken from all ethnic backgrounds among men between the ages of 20-29, the male population of the United States had an average height of 5’9.9”.
No.10 – Australia
The latest government statistics covering all age ranges suggest that Australian men continue to grow taller, with an average height of 5’9.8”.
