Human beings have always wanted to be like birds.  We wanted to fly like birds, that is why we invented the airplane. In this project, some humans wanted to be like birds by building a tree house restaurant. What an idea! I guess it would be really cool to be eating above ground and enjoy the significant view of nature.

The location of this Redwoods Treehouse restaurant is located near Auckland, New Zealand. It looks like a bird nest being built around a redwood tree. With the height of 40 meters above the ground, diners could enough quite a scene when hanging out with friends.

There is a walk way to will take you from the ground up.

The structure seems to give you some protections during night time.

What a great way to be one with nature. It was designed by New Zealand-based Pacific Environment Architects, Ltd, is part of a large marketing campaign for the Yellow Pages, a major printer of US phone directories.

Here is the corridor to the restaurant at night time.  If the price is right, I guess it wouldn’t hurt to try something different for a change.

There is something about the human spirit that is similar to the birds.  We want to enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean while living in our nest.  The ocean has inspired many architect to create awesome home design to face it.  There is some tranquility that people often want to find in the clear view of blue water.  This piece of art is called  The Holman House, which sits on the edge of a 230-foot (70-meter). The one of a kind dwelling place for the rich is designed by Sydney-based Durbach Block Architects.  Where you think the architects got their inspiration? The creation of this house is derived from Picasso’s paintings, “The Bathers.” One inspiration spawn another inspiration.

Dover Heights Sydney is where this get away is located.  The architects used a lot of tricks in this construction to make the structure blends in with the surrounding.

The ultimate place to hang out for the summer.

In this photo the structure seems like it is floating over the beautiful oceanic view.  all you need is a good rod and  fishing spot could be found all over the house.

Daniel Arsham‘s 90 square foot apartment in Brooklyn is constructed with a lining of 25,000 ping pong balls. The loft space is attached to Daniel’s firm, Snarkitecture, and contains just enough room for sleeping and dressing.

The apartment — which Snarkitecture designed — was built in two months for less than $100 a square foot. That’s about $50 cheaper than your average loft.

Ok, I’m not denying that this is the most awesome toaster-sized loft apartment I’ve ever seen in my life, but aren’t ping pong balls like the most flammable thing of all time? Just sayin, I hope there’s a ping pong fire extinguisher under the bed.

??Inspired by the chopsticks, Kuchibashi by Brian Li is a simple solution for one of everyday life issues. It is a utensil that helps prevent spillage of hot liquid like tea when pouring.
In Japanese, Kuchi means spout or mouth, and Hashi means chopsticks, the word Kuchibashi means a bird’s beak.

Floating shelves are all the rage now but lets take them a step further by making them adjustable. The Rolling Shelf by Catherine Greene has one end made from individual pieces of wood held together by fabric. This new flexible hinge allows you to really create some unique shelving options that are aesthetically interesting.

The Utopik Design Lab have done it! They’ve taken our entire collected evolution of cup-making and holding of drink history and combined it into one cup. One cup to hold them all. This is “One Glass for Every Drink” and it’s made to work for everyone. It of course tends to the four main glass-specific types of drink: water, cognac, wine, and champagne.

It’s a fantastic idea and deserving of a slew of attempts at it in order to make it perfect. Here’s one with some really fabulous ideas, and rather elegant ones if I do say so myself.

And of course by bums I mean rumps, bottoms, butts, whatever you’d like to call your pillowy hindquarters. You’re about to get held up by some industrial rope design and curly, twisty, lovely wooden beauty. This is “Tensile Furniture” by designer Yoav Reches and it requires no tools to assemble. Made of wood, a tiny bit of metal, and rope, and that’s it. The rope, as guided through a pattern of grooves, gets groovy by holding the whole structure of each bit of furniture here together. Then you sit. No extra intelligence needed, just a little physics knowledge to get you going.

The tiny bit of metal is stainless steel. Other than that, it’s all made out of softness and cool hard woodness. There’s Birch plywood, Iroko hardwood, and a bit of fabric for that bottom we were talking about.

I love the concept of this candle clock designed by Nathalie Dewez. As the candle burns, we can know exactly how much time we have been using this candle. Or better, they can redesign the number so we know how much time left for this candle..

Los Angeles is stereotyped as a “health city” but the reality is it’s far from it. Sure there’s a salad bar for every McDonalds but there are also smokers and accompanying them are cigarette butts and ash. I’m not going to preach how terrible smoking is but I will say have the decency to at least properly dispose of your ciggy waste properly. The public streets are not free territory for filth. The BUG ash tray by Wiyono Sutjipto was designed for those that need a quick hit without being a mess cat. Keep your butts and ash inside the metal case and empty it when you get home.

Hanging Vase by Hwajin Jung. It’s unique in it’s shape and execution. The line holding the frame is a wire, the wire bone’s connected to the light bone, and the light shines on the plant. Super cute.

The frame of course uses the famous Polaroid photo ratio to replicate the famous instant-photo look. If you look around the internet you’ll find this look replicated in quite a few places in website design, especially when people are displaying mass amounts of photos or image-links.

This frame was made in light of the loveliness of containing a moment in just a moment, then displaying it simply from then forevermore.

But Maxime Ansiau can make it an incredible piece of art by carving and burning. She calls it Burnt Tree.

With its peerless architectural design, the Eighty South Street tower stands conspicuous against the skyline of New York City. This 835-foot-tall residential building houses just ten ultra-exclusive townhouse condominiums, with a starting bid for each unit at US$ 29 million. Each townhouse, contained within its own individual cube with roughly 10,000 square feet of floor space and containing four stories, is accompanied by a large private garden outside and a private elevator within. Moreover, convenience is paramount, with concierge services and amenities made available round the clock.

Its strategic location by the southern tip of the Manhattan waterfront, as well as being a stone’s throw away from the World Trade Center site, suggests a panoramic view of both the calming waterfront seascape as well as the vibrant city skyline. This work of art is part of the portfolio of the world-famous Spanish architect and engineer, Santiago Calatrava, whose other works include the Athens Olympic Stadium, Sweden’s Turning Torso, and more…

More facts…

- The building has an innovative shape of rectangular boxes, each of which is a separate residential unit, stacked around the central core.

- The structure is to be topped with a spire that would reach beyond 1,000 feet.

- Despite its great height, the building will hold only 12 residences.

- Ten of the twelve cubes will contain residences and the two lower cubes, as well as the 8-story base will be commercial.

- Each cube will be approximately 10,336 square feet each.

- Each private cube-”townhouse” will have a private garden.

- This building will house some of the most expensive residences in the city and possibly in the world.

- With each cube featuring a separate elevator and a private garden, the apartments are expected to be the most expensive in the city.

- The tower was approved by the city in early February 2005.

- Each townhouse is expected to cost about 30 million dollars.

I am no Italian Chef, and so I have always struggled with getting just the right amount of pasta cooked for the guests sitting at my table. Thanks to German Design studio, ding 3000 studio, the answer to my noodle problems has been solved. Noooodle is a device designed for measuring spaghetti portions. Noooodle allows you to measure off just the right amount of spaghetti from one to up to four people. The design can also be used to place hot cooking pots on so as not to burn your counter space when laid upon it. Konstantin Slawinski are responsible for manufacturing Noooodle.

You must really feel like Zeus looking down from here.

Built into the granite rock face, Amanzi features panoramic views of the Andaman Sea, an open-plan living area that stretches from the garden entrance to to the infinity pool, and even it’s own mountain stream. This is where modern design meets natural beauty.

A good look at the swimming pool.  Materials must be cheap in this place to build such a lovely house.

2008 marks the decline in the demand for houses in california and other states in the U.S.  The crash in the real estate market will lead to a large number of houses going into auctions or foreclosure.  Investors are looking seriously during this period of time becuase this is when they are able to buy any house at a relatively cheap price.   When they buy houses during this time, they are mostly like hang on to it or rent it out and patiently wait until the price increases again.  Statistics have shown that prices on houses double every ten years, and this cycle have not failed in the last century.   In the next couple of years the price of houses will drop drammatically, therefore it is good to buy low and sell high later on…
