Pencil and Real World Picture

A combination of pencil drawing and real world makes Ben Heine‘s work a fun piece of art. He is a Belgian painter, illustrator, portraitist, caricaturist and photographer. He was born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast and currently lives and works in Brussels, Belgium. He studied graphic arts and sculpture and also has a degree in journalism. The artist sticks all the pencils together, carved them and created these cute drawings. Even though these have been around for a while and are not a “huge” art, somehow they seem to be fun and new to me. These pencil set illustrations were created by Melbourne-based artist Ghostpatrol.

These pencil shaving portraits were created by british designer Kyle Bean for the ‘contributors’ page of the 2011 handmade issue of wallpaper* design magazine. bean used the shavings from coloured pencils, pictured in the photos, to render each of seven editors.

“As much of a performance as it is a drawing, the work of american artist Tony Orrico explores
the capacity of the human body as a physical tool for creating art. with a background in dance
and choreography, orrico utilizes his own body – sometimes just the wrist, sometimes his whole
form – to generate massive drawings that are at once organic and highly precise.

‘I marvel at the composition of nature and cycles,’ says orrico. ‘I am not versed in the convergence of
art and mathematics or sciences, but find myself instinctually attracted to this relationship. I try to
dilute my efforts and find an experiential point of entrance. I like to experiment with both embodied and
cognitive systems that yield beauty. my favorite art is somewhat accidental and overwhelmingly concise.’

Whether it be spinning on his torso or pivoting a specific joint, a specific motion is established and
repeated throughout the performance. the completion of each piece ranges from 15 minutes to as long as
7 continuous hours.”

Wood Block Paintings

Inspired by pop artist, editorial photography and the endless world of computer design and animation, Mauricio Buitrago created a system based on; THE PIXEL. Hundreds of symmetrical wood blocks, hand-painted individually with acrylics, then neatly assembled in a elaborate woodworking process to create the factors of illusion and distance in each piece. When viewed up close, you see a modern display of colored blocks but as you question its form, your eyes and mind develop the need for distance between you and the piece, making a distinct image appear. Buitrago was born in Cali, Colombia in 1969.

This is an ongoing project, that just got started. So, count on lots of additional work in this project, in the future. What I do, is that I make a quite simple movie poster, including one or a few pictograms, displaying the theme of the film. Either original pictograms combined, or modified ones, to fit with the film.

Weird Painting On Wall

Installations can sometimes be impressive, but some involve the spectator in a full way. Japanese artist, Yosuke Goda, creates immersive environment rooms, just using his talent and creative mind. He creates living, breathing rooms that swallow human beings. Thank to the use of a black markers, Goda has no mercy for the surrounding white walls, floor, and ceiling. He creates organisms with a body similar to the roots and vines of trees. This impressive monster appears to constantly grow, with no self-control, like art, unstoppable.

Art on Tissue Paper

Nathalie Boutté creates paper collages using thousands of strips of recycled tissue paper, pages from discarded novels, and most recently translucent tracing paper. The strips are densely layered like thatch on a roof, exposing just the tips that act like pixels to form larger images. Born in 1967 Nathalie lives and works in Montreuil, France.

My media is never fixed; my artworks range from large installations that are activated by the space or the viewers, to series of sculptures made from everyday objects. I consider my art practice as part of a playful exploration of ideas and materials.

Contribution for the Ridiculous Typography Rules book by Leon Dusktra. The rule that had to be visualized was A GOOD TYPEFACE IS INVISIBLE. The starting point for this illustration came from the idea, that when does a text becomes an image. And what if one makes the other and the other way around. This submission became also part of the Don’t Believe the Type poster exhibition in The Hague.

Crazy Handwriting Art
