With 13 days to go, Christmas is definitely around the corner and most probably you are in the process of getting together gifts for friends and family members. But with all the freaked out holiday shoppers and Christmas wrappings, are you sure you picked the right Christmas gift for the right person in mind?
For someone you are constantly with, this should be easy. Just keep an open ear when September comes and you will surely hear their heart’s desire. Just remember to write it down somewhere so you will not get confuse with what gift goes to whom.
However, gifts for extended family like your in-laws or someone you are not living with, could get tricky. Bear in mind that gifts are meant to make the person feel good this holiday season. It is not something that will make them feel bad about themselves.
People take gifts as their personal mirror. This should reflect their personality and this is usually something a person uses in gauging how well the giver knows them. For example, when you give your wife a brush and a mirror, she will definitely think you see her as an ugly person, someone who let go of herself. That is bad.
When you give generic things like a towel, it means you did not take time to know this person more, like taking them for granted.
If the cash is pretty low, it is much better to express your joy by greeting them personally or over the phone and talking to them to let them know you care, than giving away gifts that they won’t probably use.
There are many ways to enjoy the Christmas season, it is not always the gifts but the true meaning should be there. Merry Christmas!
